We're preggo.
I wrote that because when I say it out loud, Carrie gags and feels nauseous. She does not like the pronoun "we" in a sentence referring to pregnancies. When the phrase is used Carrie will remind those within earshot that:
- No one pukes along with her.
- No one else has to wake up in the night to visit the toi-toi
- No one else gets acid reflux every night
- No one is extra sensitive to sun
- No one else has to avoid the very medecines that would give relief from the extra headaches she gets
- No one else has an overwhelming need for Cheetos
So, yeah. "We" are not pregnant. I would say that I live with a beautiful, pregnant woman, but I am not pregnant. I will be a dad, so that gives you doomsday people five and half months to flee the country. Our child, regardless of sex, will be forcefed Red Sox baseball, Harry Potter books, and the scriptures, not necessarily in that order. I already have daydreams of playing with our child, holiding it while I am watching March Madness, tossing our infant safely in the air to celebrate the Red Sox second straight world series victory. And don't scoff- it's my fatherly duty to teach our child to trust the unknown and feel safety with trusted others, and tossing them in the air, safely, is how I am going to do it. It's all about their emotional regulation.

Congratulations! I hope that our children will someday meet in a support group for forced Red Sox fans.
On a related note, don't be as disappointed as I was if he/she isn't excited by major sporting events immediately out of the womb. But assuming those two World Series victories are in 2015 and 2016 (or later), there's a chance for jubilation shared between father and child.
Yay yay yay! Can't wait to find out boy/girl in a few weeks...let the hand holding begin!
What if the baby chooses to be a Royals fan of its own free will? What would you do then??
That's awesome, Congratulations. If you're undecided about the child being a boy or girl, just take comfort in knowing that you could have both! Twins are a plausible option, and so is a child with an XXY makeup. In response to Emily's comment, if the child decides to become a Royals fan, on his/her own volition, just take comfort in the scripture that says something to the effect of after you have raised your children on correct principles and they still make poor decisions, the sins will be upon their own heads. It's in the D&C, probably.
Congratulations! I'm glad that baby will have a best cousin. Especially if it's a girl ;)
What a clear ultrasound photo! Congratulations & don't worry Tony, I think saying "we" is just fine (though I don't like the word "preggo", so there you go). Since you posted on it, you get the claim. As for sporting events, any time football is on, Cami claps & cheers, regardless of the team, so it does take a while to build that loyalty - good luck!
YAY! I feel like I have to say congrats even though I already knew. (Sorry people, immediate family gets to know before the blogging world.)
Also, sometimes I say "we are going to Dartmouth Medical School" and people get confused and think that Steven and I are both going to attend Med School. And then I feel stupid because I have to explain that, no, I am just tagging along.
YAY! Congratulastion!!! We are so excited for you guys. Being a parent really is the best thing in the world. You guys will be such a great momma and dadda. We can't wait to hear what the baby is - boy/girl.
Congrats Carrie!
