Sunday afternoon the kids went crazy with the Duplos. Here Will is showing off his Abe Lincoln hat that he filled with Legos before placing on his head. Interestingly enough, we learned at the Petersen Boarding House Gift Shop (where the hat was purchased) that Lincoln stored important papers in his hat to keep his hands free. What I mean by interesting is that it is interesting that Will intuitively thinks like a president, and not just any president, one of the best.
Monday night was our last pool night of the summer. It was great having Anthony with us because he took care of all the cargo.
Brushing teeth is an exciting part of the kids' bedtime routine. It usually takes place in two parts. First part, mom or dad actually brushing their teeth. Second part, sucking/chewing on the toothbrush until the supervising parent has had enough.
Wednesday was a rough day. I take back my comment about Will thinking like a president. On Wednesday he was thinking like a delinquent. In the evening we walked to the park by our house and just hung out for a bit. It was hot, but peaceful. The kids enjoyed swinging and running around. I enjoyed being out of the house and sharing some happy moments with my kids. TJ was in DC, so we called him from the park and said hello.
Thursday morning I felt so tired. After taking a walk with Lauren all I wanted to do was close my eyes for a few minutes so I turned on Curious George. I dozed off for about 10 minutes, and when I woke up this was how I found Lauren. The girl knows how to get comfy.
Friday afternoon I spent some time cleaning Anthony's office. I keep a lot of our special* activities in that closet. Will found the bucket of beans while I was working in the closet, so I let him get it out so I could get some work done. I suppose he wanted a total sensory experience because he climbed right in and used his feet to manipulate the beans. *Special = Too messy to keep out all the time.
Saturday morning we headed to the Lenexa Spinach Festival. To say it was hot would be an understatement. Despite the heat, we had a great time. What can be better than riding a shuttle bus, getting a 5 minute chair massage, a photobooth session, crafting, live music, bouncing in a bounce house, and fishing. This was our 3 year attending and we had a great time.
