2016 :: week 11

March 6
My parents have an old walker that we occasionally put Elliott in when visit them. Will loves to push him around and it is a nice spot for Elliott. He can't quite sit up by himself, but he likes being able to see what is going on.

March 7
We spent the week getting ready for our trek to Utah. Monday afternoon we took our van to the car dealership to get the oil changed and to make sure there were no major problems before we drove it 2500+ miles (roundtrip). The waiting area at Frank Ancona is pretty awesome and the kids were more excited about this errand than any of the others. Disney channel, juice boxes, donuts and Otis Spunkmeier cookies?! What more could a stressed out mom and her kids want?

March 8
We had to pause our trip preparations for our Tuesday afternoon playdate with the half day friends. It was the first time it was both warm and dry enough for us to meet outside in months. Will and Leo dug a big hole in the sandbox. What is it with Will and digging holes? We saw some men digging holes to work on cable lines (I think) recently. Will got a little too excited when he found out that "you can dig holes for a job!?"

March 9
It's never too soon to start planning for Halloween. Will has been talking about being a storm trooper for Halloween for a few weeks now and I was so excited when I found a storm trooper costume in the clearance section at Kohl's. Will was devastated when he opened the bag and pulled out a very large costume. It was an ADULT medium. It was a tender mercy that we were able to find a child's medium at the other Kohl's later that day. Will wore it around town as we made our final preparations for our road trip.

March 10
And we're off! I snapped this picture in our driveway as we began our 2 day, 16 hour journey to Utah. We drove for just under 7 hours Thursday and stopped in North Platte, NE. We left at 12:45pm, only 45 minutes later than I had hoped, and arrived just before 8pm. The hotel we stayed in had warm chocolate chip cookies waiting in the lobby, and the kids watched an episode of Full House while we got situated for the night.

March 11
We arrived at the Nielson's home in American Fork, UT, around 7pm Friday night. The kids were super excited to get out of the car and see their cousins. I forgot that even though it had been over a year since I had seen them, the kids and Anthony recently spent several days with the Nielsons at the John Family Reunion in Wisconsin. Will and Sadie were excited to see each other and played great all week.

March 12
We spent Saturday afternoon and evening with members of the Crane family. We bought the Jelly Belly game "Beanboozled" with us and my sisters and their significant others were good sports and played with us. Both Will and Lauren were extremely excited to trick the grown-ups.
