...My menu planning and sticking to the grocery budget in January was, in a word, unsuccessful. But (so far), February has been going very well. It's kind of disappointing how quickly I write things off (like sticking to my budget!) once I get a bit off track. Now that I'm on a roll I feel good and hopefully I can end the month well. The fact that February is 3 days shorter helps too.
...The other night on the news the meteorologist asked the viewers if they preferred 100 degrees or 0 degrees. Is that question even worth asking? Is there anyone who would prefer 0 degrees? If there is anyone out there that would prefer 0 degrees to 100 degrees, could you please explain why? I don't know about anyone else, but I am looking forward to the early spring.
...Will sleeps in strange positions. I've blogged about this before here. We now have early (9am-noon) church, which is a struggle for Will because he still needs two naps. Two of the last three weeks he has ended up falling asleep in Tony's arms during the third hour, like this:
The head always goes back. He really hates to cuddle.
...Speaking of Will, he is now a walking fool. He likes to lap our couch about 100 times throughout the day.
...We were at my old high school the other night and as we were leaving he walked almost the entire length of the hallway from the art rooms to the front entrance. Because he started walking in the winter and we spend so much time indoors, it was the longest straight stretch he has ever walked.
...My sister Laura was a part of the Sweetheart court at SMS. It was fun helping her find a dress and attending the winter pep assembly and boys basketball game. I still cannot get over how young looking a lot of the high school kids are. While we were watching the basketball game Tony and I talked about how when we were in high school the basketball players seemed larger-than-life, but now they look so young.
...I had a really *fun* Valentine's date. At the Overland Park Municipal Court.
Last month when my sister, Jill, was in town I pulled over for having expired tags. I really don't know how I overlooked that, but I did. I was frustrated about getting pulled over, but mad at myself for the reason it happened. I pride myself on being organized and do my best to keep on top of things. When the officer asked me if the information on my driver's license was current, I told him no and gave him the updated information. I then got an additional $121 ticket for failure to notify the Department of Revenue of my change of address within 10 days. That one really bugged me because my driver's license hadn't expired, it just had the wrong address. Was that really a crime worth $121? So, I went and got a new one and the judge dismissed the ticket. He also reduced the fine I had to pay for having expired tags down to $20 because I had gotten them renewed. It was a relief to not have to fork out over $200 for such stupid reasons.

Oh I miss you guys! I can't believe how big Will is. Him reading books with you is just adorable.
A tip that I'm using for my grocery budget (because I stink at using it) is to break it down to a weekly amount, and then on Mondays I have NEW money! That and a list/menu.
A few things:
-I would also like to know if anyone in the world prefers 0 degrees to 100- maybe 0 degrees over like 130
-I cannot believe he sleeps like that!
-In the picture of you and Will with Laura Will looks so grown up
-I can't believe they charged you $121 for an unchanged address! When we moved last June Daniel got his license changed right away and I was skeptical that you could actually get a ticket for having the wrong address on your license- I stand corrected.
Carrie, I sometimes think I like 0 degrees over 100 degrees. Heat makes me feel sick and gross unless there is lots of air conditioning and a pool nearby. With cold weather at least you can bundle up and put more layers on whereas in heat you can only take so much off. I do have to admit that I love that the groundhog didn't see his shadow. I am ready for it to get warmer! I like the cold, but I don't like it forever!
